Theodor Severin Kittelsen
1857 - 1914.
T. Kittelsen is one of the most popular artists in Norway.
He was born in Telemark (Norway) and had 7 brothers/sisters.
He was discovered by Diderich Maria Aall at the age of 17 and studied in Munich.
He was granted in 1882 to a state scholarship to study in Paris and in 1887 he returned to Norway for good.
He started to be sick in 1910 and died in 1914.
His main inspirations were fairy tales, legends, nature and Norwegian folktales.
Several black metal bands like Burzum, Wongraven, Judas Iscariot, Vociferian, Moloch, Vanhelga, etc... were inspired by his art and used his paintings as cover.
